Louis Michel, also known as Masai, is a multidisciplinary visual artist and muralist. With his works, his aim is to give a voice to the voiceless and highlight environmental issues such as the sixth mass extinction crisis, speciesism and biodiversity loss. His style is influenced by cuddly toys and patchwork quilts, which allow him to explore vibrant colours, cultural fabrics and popular culture. With a strong do-it-yourself attitude, he has spearheaded projects such as Rise Up Residency, a series of 17 murals in Margate, The Art of Beeing, which brings wildlife to urban areas in the United States, and various self-curated interactive exhibitions.
