Alexander Williams
Alexander Williams MBE is a former footballer who played for Manchester City and later Port Vale. Born in Moss Side, he debuted as goalkeeper for Manchester City in March 1981 and went on to play 125 games for the team. Following his successful playing career, in 1986 Williams founded City in the Community, a charity that encourages healthier lives through football. His dedication to the cause was recognised in 2002 when he was awarded an MBE for services to young people. In 2023, he had the honour of presenting the Premier League trophy on the pitch to the Manchester City players.
