David McAlpine

Born in 1946, David McAlpine joined the family construction company Sir Robert McAlpine in 1963 and was appointed a company director in 1971. Since his first project – Charles Forte’s Excelsior Hotel at Heathrow airport – his projects have included Hinckley B Nuclear Power Station and London buildings such as the Millennium Dome/O2, Emirates Stadium, Olympic Stadium, U.S. Embassy, Elizabeth Tower and Peninsula London Hotel. Involved with charities including Action for Addiction, McAlpine has also raised funds for Unicorn Theatre, National Trust and Amnesty International. Previously a commissioner for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, he continues to be a trustee of the National Army Museum Development Trust.
