David Ross

Entrepreneur and philanthropist David Ross co-founded The Carphone Warehouse Group plc in 1991. Educated at the University of Nottingham, he initially qualified as a chartered accountant. Ross’s philanthropic work, through the David Ross Foundation, consists of charitable donations to educational, community and cultural initiatives such as the University of Nottingham, National Portrait Gallery, Nevill Holt Festival and Lincoln Cathedral. In 2007, he founded the David Ross Education Trust, which educates 15,000 children in 35 schools around the East Midlands. Ross is chair of the National Portrait Gallery and British Olympic Foundation and a Pro-Chancellor of Nottingham University.
