Jussi Pylkkänen

Jussi Pylkkänen, a specialist in 20th-century art, is one of the world’s leading auctioneers. He was the first to break the $100,000,000 threshold for a painting, with Francis Bacon’s Three Studies of Lucian Freud in 2013. His most remarkable sale was Leonardo da Vinci’s Salvator Mundi in 2017, which achieved $450,000,000, still the highest price paid for a work of art at auction. Pylkkänen has conducted major sales in London and New York – for the collections of George Michael, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, David Rockefeller and Paul Allen among others. He spent 18 years at Christie’s as European President and latterly as Global President, leaving in 2023 to establish Art Pylkkänen.
