Lord Julian Fellowes

Lord Fellowes of West Stafford DL, known professionally as Julian Fellowes, revitalised the English country house genre with his screenplay for the film Gosford Park in 2002 and the hit TV series Downton Abbey, which he created and wrote. His other scripts include the films The Young Victoria, Separate Lies and Vanity Fair, the TV series Belgravia and The Gilded Age, and musicals Mary Poppins and School of Rock. Two of his books, Snobs and Past Imperfect, satirising the English class system, were bestsellers. Fellowes was educated at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire and Magdalene College, Cambridge, and started his career as an actor, featuring in Monarch of the Glen and Tomorrow Never Dies.
