Matt & Lola Ross
Matt Ross grew up in a Hackney vicarage with his Trinidadian mother and English father before studying Law at SOAS. He joined Sony Music in the early 1990s, when few people of colour held senior executive positions in the UK music industry. An innovative marketer and passionate advocate of diversity and representation, he became the first Head of Black Music in the UK industry, working with artists such as Beyoncé, Lauryn Hill, Maxwell and Nas. Ross has since brought global talent to the Caribbean, staging large-scale shows in Trinidad and Tobago. Currently working with a tech venture in Public Health, he still contributes to advocacy, activism and mentorship in the music industry.
Lola Ross is a North Londoner with Ghanaian, English and Jamaican heritage. After graduating with a degree in health sciences and nutrition, she established herself as a nutritionist in clinical practice, supporting the wellbeing of women in the different stages of life. She has also contributed to several women’s health titles and is a femtech co-founder. In 2005, she swapped London and its bustling, urban environment for the quieter and slower rhythm of life on the lush, tropical island of Trinidad, where she lived for several years.
